Pupils strike the right note with glockenspiel lessons

Music is the key to life, they say, and pupils at Minerva Primary Academy are embracing that belief as they begin learning a new instrument this term.

Children across the school are taking up the glockenspiel, a bright and melodic member of the percussion family.

As part of their learning, pupils are also developing their oracy skills by giving thoughtful feedback after each performance, reflecting on what went well and identifying ways to improve.

Learning music is known to offer a wealth of cognitive, emotional, and social benefits. These include strengthened memory, enhanced problem-solving skills, stress relief, and increased confidence in teamwork and communication.

A spokesperson said: “We are incredibly proud of how enthusiastically our pupils have embraced their glockenspiel lessons.

“Music opens doors to creativity, confidence, and collaboration, and it’s wonderful to see the children growing in all these areas.”
